How to use this freight bid template
- List each lane once. Use city and state for origin and destination, the equipment type, and expected loads per week.
- Pick one rate basis. Asking every carrier for the same basis (for example, all-in per load) is what makes bids comparable.
- Set a firm deadline. Give carriers a few business days and say the deadline in your email.
- Send the same sheet to every carrier. Ask them to fill in only the carrier columns and return it.
- Check authority before you award. Look up each carrier's MC or DOT number in FMCSA records and confirm insurance is current.

Merging replies from a dozen carriers by hand is where this process gets slow. In FreightBid, carriers enter rates from a link with no login, authority is checked automatically, and every bid lands ranked by lane. See also our guide to freight bidding sites.
